    In this intricate ensemble, we are quickly reminded of one of the greatest stories ever told – the story of Adam & Eve. Through subtle lyrics, cues, metaphors & harmonies, we see the evolution of Anise as what is written about Eve in the Bible. Similar to Eve’s story, we learn the purpose of a man at the start of ‘Genesis’ EP which then transcends into the creation of a woman. As we continue, we follow the journey of being completely vulnerable to God through catchy hooks (Naked) – show the fall of man due to temptation (Forbidden Fruit) – explain the weight if taking the fall due to man’s irresponsibility to step into his role (Fall) & find ourselves in a world outside of the realm of God as told on a funky 1970s inspired, heavily bass-driven, hip-hop beat (Renegade). We come full circle at the end of Genesis through a powerful melodic anthem, which is similar to the rise of man; the arrival of Jesus (Genesis). ‘Genesis’ EP embodies the mind of Anise and her personal life experiences – with the intention to invoke awareness of our inner feelings and raise a heightened level of consciousness to our higher power.
