Colonial FX (CFX) is the Dub related alias of Irish producer/DJ Oisin Daly. After embracing sound system culture in Ireland Daly became obsessed with creating and playing bass heavy dub riddims. Currently based out of Savannah, Georgia Oisin continues to evolve his sound to elevate his musical journey in to new uncharted directions.
CFX has been featured on labels such as Boom One Records and Dubophonic Netlabel. His resume boasts having played multiple major festivals in Ireland, as well as regularly hosting events and supporting national touring acts such as DJ Dara, AK1200, and Yellowman in Savannah.
"Empires Fall" is the latest work from Colonial FX. The EP kicks off with a 140bpm skanking stepper "Brutus Skank". Opening up with swirling psychedelic vibes, "Brutus Skank" breaks into a heavy 2-step riddim with a rough bass line that's sure to shake the subs on any dancefloor.
"Steppa Police" follows with an ominous brooding bass line in which you can hear a real police shooting from a body cam in the background. The track then builds on a UK steppas style rhythm before breaking into a heavy ragga jungle breakdown.
"Burner" moves into 160 footwork territory with expansive glitchy sound design and relentless rhythms before the EP slows down the tempo to close it out. "Turn Up the Music" is a slow stomper with late night sub shaking dance floor vibes to mellow out the mood.
