From the civilization and rich history of northern Syria at Ugarit (modern Ras Al Sharma)

Hurrian songs are collection of music inscribed in cuneiform on clay tablets, making it the oldest surviving substantially complete work of notated music knowing to history being well over 3,200 years old. Found at the Royal Palace at Ugarit northern Syria date to approximately 1400BCE

The Ugaritic music notation was discovered in the 1950s. Dr. Ann Kilmer an Assyriologist from California was able to decode and understand the meaning of the tablets after 25 years of discovery.

The Hurrian songs used the seventh notes of the Diatonic Scale which discovered 1000 years ago

The Hurrian Hymn is a religious song it is dedicated to the moon goddess Nikkal , for fertility of a woman who could not bear children complaining about her concerns to the moon god.

Nikkal is the one who will strengthen her,
The wedded one allows her to bear children,
She lets them be born by their fathers.
But the progenitor will call out: she has not borne a child.
[.. why] have I, as a woman, not borne you a child?
