Brisbane producer ealing. continues a recent run of head-turning work with his heavily textured reinterpretation of Midas.Gold’s ‘Work It Out’.
The tune builds slowly and bubbles with energy as it reaches a busy crescendo. As Midas’ vocals bounce into his first verse, the song really hits its stride, with the bass rattling and the AK-47 drums snapping. Using very little of the original single, ealing. crafts his own, darker version of song, reminiscent of early Machinedrum or Brainfeeder wonderkid Iglooghost.
The song’s second half, however, changes the dark atmosphere for a brighter disposition; the hard and fast drums continue to dance around the vocals but the sub bass disappears as a saccharine and nostalgic synth takes hold.
