With this remix, multi-disciplinary artist and producer Jared Van Fleet releases his first work under the moniker Neon Wild. As he reimagines the track for the dance floor, he artfully mixes the natural and technological worlds, using elements such as field recordings he made at a tropical bird sanctuary in Cuba, while transforming organic sounds like the vocals into computer voices through the use of a vocoder, rendering them both more robotic and strangely more beautiful and affecting at the same time. Through it all, he takes the listener on a path that rewards at each turn as it keeps the body moving with constant rhythmic interplay. In his words, “Practice’s ‘The Afterlife’ took me on a journey from the first moment I heard it. With this mix, I tried to imagine the song reincarnated into a new form, exploring the sounds and scenes of a digital jungle in the great virtual beyond.”
