Mental illness has been a real struggle within my family. A couple years ago, my older sister fell into a deep depression that became drastically worse due to the harmful medications prescribed to her by misinformed doctors. Eventually she refused to take those meds and found a holistic doctor who was able to give her the proper treatment. She's now fully recovered and thriving. Watching her spiral into a catatonic state was like watching a human become a robot. Her story inspired me to write this song. I've since discovered that not only is it her story, but the story of so many others who battle with mental illness. My hope is that this song would remind them that they are not alone in their struggle.
